I was out documenting the construction. That is something I enjoy, and I had been out there a couple days a week following the progress. That morning I was videoing the cars driving up to the barrier and turning around.
Somebody else was out there too and they were upset about it. They had called the neighborhood reporter. She showed up while I was still wandering around with my camera, looking for another perspective, and since I had been documenting the whole thing it fit.
She got the story right. The real change is how long it takes to get to and from this neighborhood. And yes, I am annoyed. I think there could have been a lot better communication to help people plan around the traffic. And I think if a crew is going to impact this many people this heavily, they should be out there working more than a straight eight to five to get it done sooner.
